There are specific written business materials you need so that your business will attract your target market, and there are ways to write those pieces that are most effective. Before we detail those facts though, let's examine your knowledge of your target market. Most business owners are quite vague when they are asked about their target market, or when they have to put together a written target market description. If you have this problem in your marketing writing, realize that it's hard to attract a market unless you're clear on who they are. Before you do your marketing writing, do the work to get clear on your target market. There are no shortcuts to that process.

When you are clear on your target market, here are some ideas on how to write your business materials to attract your target market.

1) Clearly define the specific prospects you want to have as clients. The best place to start is by detailing the problems they have that you can solve. What are their lives like and what struggles do these issues cause them? What emotions do they experience, and what words and phrases do they use to describe those experiences? Your objective is to make these specific prospects and their problematic experiences as real, emotional, and authentic. You want to present a description that causes self-recognition in the exact segment of the market you are targeting.

2) Next, contrast that problem image with a clear picture of how things could be for them - once they have the solution you offer. What is different, and how do they feel about it? What are the new circumstances? What are they free from, and what does that make them feel? This is a place where you want to clearly demonstrate your depth of knowledge by using the words and phrases past clients have used. Describe how changed their lives have been and how changed your prospects' lives could be. Your objective is to make this so real that a prospect can "inhabit" the possibility. Make it tangible, believable, and exciting.

3) Keep your writing prospect-centric. One of the biggest challenges in doing your marketing writing is remembering that this is not about you, but rather about the target market you want to attract. You are talking about your prospect - what they feel and what they want. You may have to revisit your writing repeatedly to strip out language that's all about you, and refocus it on the prospect. Think about it this way, the prospect will gradually become interested in you - and your ability to deliver - once they've become convinced that you "know" them, their problems and the solutions they need.

4) Leave the jargon out. Such language drives a wedge between you and your prospect. If it took you years of study and specialized training to learn your skill, get help in eliminating "too technical" language from your business writing. Confine such language to "white paper" type writing that has specialized, in-depth information. In general, keep your marketing writing simple, easy to understand, and low tech.

5) Keep your target market in mind in all the business writing you do. Don't just have a little bit of prospect-centric information and veer back into "me, me, me" language. Think like your target market. In fact, if you once were your target market, that story can be very compelling. Prospects feel immediate trust when they know that you have struggled with the same issues. It's obvious that you truly do understand what it feels like to have those problems. If your story tells about the influences and experiences that led to your creating your solution, that's even more effective marketing writing. They can see and understand your path and the logic that led to the solution you provide. It's also inspiring to know that SOMEONE has freed themselves from the struggle.

To attract your target market, be clear on who they are and think and write - like your target market. When you're doing his effectively, attracting targeted prospects becomes easy.

This latest development was reported as a number of users have seen a call button appear when viewing their friends profile page. Lightning Captured By X-Ray Camera

Scientists triggered lightning using rockets

The first x-ray images of a lightning strike have been captured by a, well, lightning-fast camera, scientists say. The pictures suggest a lightning bolt carries all its x-ray radiation in its tip.

During recent thunderstorms in Camp Blanding, Florida, the camera's electronic shutter "froze" a lightning bolt—artificially triggered by rockets and wires—as it sped toward the ground at one-sixth the speed of light. "Something moving this fast would go from the Earth to the moon in less than ten seconds," said Joseph Dwyer, a lightning researcher at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne. Scientists have known for several years that lightning emits radiation, said Dwyer, who revealed the photos at an annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco earlier this month. But until now scientists didn't have the technology to take x-ray images quickly enough to see where the radiation comes from, he said.

Lightning Imaged by 1,500-Pound Camera

Making a camera capable of taking such quick images was an achievement in and of itself, Dwyer emphasized. "You can't just go buy a camera and point it at lightning," he said. "We had to make it." The resulting 1,500-pound (680-kilogram) camera—created by Dwyer's graduate student Meagan Schaal—consists of an x-ray detector housed in a box about the size and shape of a refrigerator. The box is lined with lead to shield the x-ray detector from stray radiation. X-rays enter the box through a small hole that in turn focuses them, like an old-fashioned pinhole camera.

Speedy Trade-Off: Less Data Space

Because lightning moves blindingly fast, the camera was required to take ten million images per second. One challenge in taking such fast pictures is storing the data. To do so, the x-ray detector had to take pictures at a relatively low resolution of 30 pixels, which produced images on a crude, hexagonal grid—as shown in the chart below.

Even so, the resolution was sharp enough to reveal a bright ball of x-rays at the head of the bolt, with almost no lingering radiation along the bolt's trail. "Almost all the x-rays are from the tip," Dwyer said. "We see the x-ray source descending with the lightning at up to one-sixth the speed of light."


Triggered Lightning Effective

The lightning bolts were triggered by launching small rockets into the thunderstorms. The rockets trailed wires behind them to direct the lightning through the camera's field of view. Artificially triggering the lightning strike likely didn't alter the natural workings of the thunderstorm, Dwyer noted. And, he said, "the advantage of triggered lightning is that we can repeat it."

how to get study visa for U.S.

We have received many questions from people who would like to come to the U.S. to study .

The most common way to come to the U.S. is to be accepted by a U.S. school, get an I-20 from the school, and apply to the Embassy or Consulate for a student visa. Getting a high school student a visa is more complicated and I’ll discuss that in a different blog.

The Embassy explains the procedure at http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-niv-fm.html and it would be basically the same for other countries.

The problems we see are outside the normal system and are as follows:

• The student wants to visit some schools before applying to them, and wants to start school after being admitted and doesn’t want to go home right after acceptance

Many potential students don’t know what school they want to attend and, in this situation, the normal process is more difficult.

Of course, the potential students can come either on the visa waiver program (VWP) (or B2 tourist visa if he or she from a country not included in the VWP) and then return home, apply in the normal way, and return with a new student visa stamp and start school.

But, many don’t want to spend the money to fly home and wait.

There is another option.

The potential student can apply for a B-2 tourist visa and come to tour potential schools. Once accepted the student can file to change his or her status in the U.S. from tourist to student and can start school as soon as the requested change is approved by Immigration.

The next time the student leaves the U.S. they must return home and apply for a student visa stamp in the normal way, but they don’t have to do this before starting school.

There are a few important points about this option:

The student must make two trips to the Embassy, first to apply for the B-2 visa before coming to the U.S. and second, when he or she returns the first time after becoming a student. Some people don’t want to bother going twice.

• The student needs to tell the people at the Embassy his or her plans. If the Embassy staff approves the student’s plan they they will put some special notes on the student visa stamp. These notes can be important later.
• After the student gets accepted into the school he or she has to file a form (I-539) with Immigration in the U.S. by mail and wait until Immigration approves the request. This approval can take up to two to three months and there is no way to speed it up. The student can’t start school until he or she gets approved, thought they can wait in the U.S. for the decision. The student can’t work while waiting.
• This won’t work if the student comes to the U.S. on the VWP. The student has to get a B-2 visa from the Embassy before coming to the U.S.

I want to study, but the best place I want to go can’t accept foreign students. What can I do?

Generally, a potential student can’t go to a school if it cannot accept foreign students (this means give an I-20).

There is one exception. If the traveler can successfully explain to the people at the U.S. Embassy that he or she is coming to the United States primarily for tourism but will also incidentally enroll in a short course of study during their visit he or she can get a B-2 visa and attend the school.

The difficult is that there is no definitions of what “ primarily”, “incidentally”, or “short” mean so it is up to the judgment of the Embassy staff.

Two possible examples I have heard of that might work are:

• A visually-impaired student wanted to go for 9 months to a leading institute founded to help visually impaired people;
• Someone interested in French cooking as a hobby wishes to take a 3 months “restaurant” tour of the U.S. and attend a famous French cooking school to get some tips.

Neither the Institute nor the French school are authorized to accept foreign students so the normal option won’t work.

The potential traveler could apply to the Embassy for a B-2 visa explaining the purpose of the trip is primarily as a tourist and that they will spend a short time studying as a part of the trip and that study is not the main purpose of the trip.

If the Embassy accepts their idea they will give them a B-2 visa stamp with another special note on their stamp and the traveler can come to the U.S. and attend the classes.

This will option will not work if the traveler comes on the VWP.

Do I need a visa to study in the UK?

You will need a visa if you:

• are a national of one of the countries listed at the end of this guidance
• are stateless (you don't have a nationality)
• hold a non-national travel document, or
• hold a passport issued by an authority that is not recognised in the UK

If you are not an EEA national and you intend to stay in the UK for more than six months, you will need to get an entry clearance before you travel. More information will be available on this website or from your nearest British mission overseas where there is a visa section.

If you do not need an entry clearance, you will have to satisfy the Immigration Officer that you qualify for entry when you arrive in the UK. They will then give you permission to stay in the UK for up to six months. You will not be allowed to extend your stay in the UK as a student unless you arrived with a student or prospective student visa, or you are studying on a course at degree level or higher.

To extend your stay you will need to apply for a residence permit at the Immigration and Nationality Directorate. (Contact details are under 'More advice and information' at the end of this guidance.) They will charge you a fee for this.

Process:

Mix flour, baking powder, oats, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl and keep it aside. Take sugar and softened butter and whisk till they are fully blended in another bowl. Break the eggs into this mixture one at a time, then mix milk and the vanilla extract. Mix these ingredients thoroughly and add the flour mixture into it. Stir till they are fully combined and finally sprinkle chocolate chips into this mixture. Pour the cookie dough into cookie sheets with the help of a tablespoon and bake them for 12-15 minutes in a 350 degrees F preheated oven. Make sure that the cookies are golden in color before taking them out. Cool them for five minutes in a wire rack and cut them into different shapes with cookie cutters.

Choco Popcorn

Ingredients:

12 cups popped popcorn

16 ounces salted peanuts

4 ounces light corn syrup

12 ounces milk chocolate morsels

4 ounces butter or margarine

Process:

Take a roasting pan and grease it lightly. Place popcorn in the pan and mix them with the salted peanuts. In a heavy sauce pan, mix corn syrup, morsels and butter. Cook on a medium flame while covering the sauce pan with a lid. When mixture reaches boiling point, add the popcorn and stir. Take a large bowl and line it with waxed paper. Pour the popcorn mixture into this bowl and bake it for 30-40 minutes in a 300 degrees F preheated oven. Make sure that you stir it once or twice while baking.

Recipe # 4:
Special Christmas Cookies

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon vanilla

4 ounces raisins

4 ounces glazed cherries

Pinch of salt

1 egg

4 ounces Brazil nuts

½ teaspoon baking soda

1¼ cups all purpose flour

½ cup butter

4 ounces glazed pineapple

¾ cup sugar

Process:

Chop the glazed pineapples, cherries and Brazil nuts and put aside. Take a large mixing bowl and combine eggs, sugar, vanilla and butter with the help of an electric mixer. Once this mixture becomes creamy, add the other ingredients including salt, flour and baking soda. Mix till all the ingredients are fully blended and the texture of the flour becomes smooth. Mix in the fruits and nuts and stir once to evenly spread them. Grease a cookie sheet lightly and fill them with the cookie batter. Bake these cookies in a 350 degrees F preheated oven for at least 15 minutes. Check that the cookies are soft when you take them out of the oven.
